Birds on a Branch

I had this card in my head for a long time before it actually hit my desk. I thought the birds 3D design would be perfect for the bird cage and also matched the papers really well. The papers are from Graphic 45’s A Ladies Diary collection. The branch is from Marianne Designs and I added some dark brown seam binding, plus ivory and brown roses to embellish the card.   Supplies: Bazzill Brown Cardstock Graphic 45  - Ladies Diary Collection - “ Delicate Detail ” Marieke’s Design 3D Sheet 2268 Marianne Designs Bird Cage – LR0147 Marianne Designs Bird on branch- LR0138 Spellbinders Fancy Framed Tags Two Justrite Stamps – Ever After Antique Labels One Vintage Photo & Antique Linen Distress Ink Roses from Green Tara

2013 Desk Calendar

Another quick and easy gift idea for Christmas or a birthday in the New Year – a desk calendar. Made from one sheet of A4 cardstock, some Bazzill Basics cardstock and some scrapbooking paper, with just a few embellishments to decorate. The A4 cardstock has just a few folds in it to create the desktop calendar. Cut some cardstock and paper to glue/tape to the front. I used the corners from the Spellbinders Antique Frames and Accents die set behind the calendar. The flourishes are from Marianne Creatables Anja’s Flowers. I embellished with some roses and cherry blossoms from Green Tara.   Supplies: Mini Calendar Spellbinders Antique Frame & Accents Creatables LR0250

Birthday Card

I thought I would just show you a birthday card that I made for one of my students this week. It's her birthday on Monday, but I gave her the card on Saturday, so don't worry I'm not spoiling the  surprise . Unfortunately the photos I took weren't the best, so they don't do it real justice. It turned out to be such a pretty card though and so easy to make too.  I embossed some smooth white cardstock with the Sizzix Thank You Set #5 embossing folder, and layered it onto a soft pink Bazzill cardstock. This was then layered onto a smooth white cardstock base. The stamp is from JustRite Stampers Large Fancy Sentiments. I just looove this stamp set!  The flowers were made using Spellbinders Blossom One and Bitty Blossoms . I used a technique that I picked up from Selma Stevenson's blog here . I just loooove these flowers and I've made them a few times now. I used white linen paper to make these. They are inked with Spun Sugar Distress Ink, spritzed and...

Butterfly Birthday Card By Jenelle

Jenelle designed this card which was a favourite amongst many of our ladies. There was a LOT of embossing and die cutting in it, but well worth the effort. The white layer was embossed with Cuttlebug folders D'vine Swirl and Roses. We used Nellie Snellen's Multiframe die MFD005 and Spellbinders standard circles for the centrepiece and Marianne Creatables Butterfly LR0113 layered onto that. The punched border is Martha Stewart Layered Arches and Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder. For the flowers we used Joy Crafts 0024 & 0025 and a Carl Fern Punch for the leaves. Finally the tag is Marianne Creatables LR0154. We've made this card in several colours now and they all look great. It's so versatile.

Thank you so much

Marianne Designables DS0911 was used to make this card. I just love the Designables folders, they are so pretty and lend themselves to so many applications. The photo doesn't really do this card much justice as you can't see the gorgeous embossing very well. The cardstock is Bazzill Dotted Swiss and just a smooth white cardstock. The stamp is from JustRite Stampers and it's from the "You're So Sweet" set, which I still have available for a limited time.

"Timepiece"

This would have to be one of my favourite cards that we made last year. I designed this using the Bo Bunny "Timepiece" collection and it has been incredibly popular with my customers. It such a simple card to make too.    Some gold ball chain added to the fob watch really sets it off. All the papers or the kit to make this card are available through my store. Contact (07) 5499 0876 or kookacft@bigpond.com for more details.

Just for Mother's Day

I am miles behind with posting some of the cards we've been making so I'm going to try and make an effort to catch up over the next week or so. To start with here is a card we made for Mother's Day. I got the inspiration from the 3D picture, which I felt would look good as two separate components on the card. The one on the inside of the card is the base image and the one of the front is the rest of the image made up into a 3D. I also gave my students the option of making this a birthday card, for those who don't have a Mum anymore or who had already made a Mother's Day card. I printed the verses on the computer for the girls.

Trinitage Box Workshop

I'm running a workshop for the above Trinitage Box this month. Designed by Jenelle Muller, it's a great little box for a birthday or even Christmas gift. You can combine a card and gift in one, with room in the drawer for a small present. Or you could simply use it as storage. If you eliminate the top section, you could stack a few drawers together and have a nice little storage solution for flowers, ribbons or dies and have it sitting on your work space. Details for the workshop are as follows: Dates: Thursday 18 th August – 9:30am – 1pm Sunday 28 th August – 9:30am – 1pm Cost - $25 Bookings are essential as places are limited. Please email me kookacft@bigpond.com to book your place. Tea, Coffee & Biscuits will be available for morning tea & sandwiches supplied for lunch. If you are unable to attend in person but would like a kit please contact me and I can arrange a kit to be posted to you. I will even post overseas for the cost of the kit plus a smal...

Week 12 - Card 1 - Tattered Floral

By Jenelle Jenelle has again designed a great card for us this week. We had great fun playing with Tim Holtz Tattered Floral die to make this gorgeous flower. The paper was first inked with Brilliance Pearlescent Beige ink, then embossed with an embossing folder from Provo Craft. Walnut Stain distress ink was then applied over the top to accent the embossing. The layers are held together with a brad and then scrunched up into the centre. Doesn't it look fantastic?? The actual card was made with white cs and brown Bazzill Basics cs. The design paper is from My Mind's Eye and Jenelle added faux stitching around the edges. A Spellbinders large scalloped circle in vellum was layered underneath a Marianne's Creatables doily in white linen paper. A double bow was added across the bottom in white satin edged organza. The punch used here was a Stampin' Up design.

Week 11 - Card 2 - Kings and Queens

I received a bunch of new 3D's in last week and among them was this King and Queen sheet from Le Suh that I thought would go perfectly with this DP from Echo Park. I layered it onto black Bazzill cs and then layered some Noel from Teresa Collins onto more black Bazzill cs. I've used black soot distress ink around the edges of the two designer papers and Vintage Photo distress ink around the 3D. I added a tag on the right side with a sentiment from Just Rite Stamps "Mini Everything Tag Set" and the gold accent is from Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Motifs. Thanks for stopping by

Week 11 - Card 1 - Parisian Motif Silhouette

Finally the new Spellbinders have arrived and we can all have a play. For this weeks class card I used the Parisian Motif die. While the DP (Kaisercrafts Waltz) was in the die I inked lightly around the edge with Black Soot distress ink. In the centre I used Marianne Designs Creatables Elegant Lady die on black Bazzill Basics CS. The background paper is from Prima's new range Melody and it's called Potting Shed. I just love this DP! The bow is from Becca Feeken and it's called a double tailed bow. As soon as I saw Becca make this bow I just had to try it. We found it a bit fiddly with the satin ribbon but the card really called for it (and I couldn't find any black organza in the 2.5cm size).I threaded the bow through the Parisian Motif design and around the back of the card front. The card front was then layered onto grey card and I added some pearls to give the card a bit of bling.

Week 10 - Card 2 - Sentimental Blossoms

I just got some brand new Martha Stewart punches that I just had to play with. Unfortunately you can't see most of the punch on this card but it just worked so well on this design. It's one of the new deep edge punches called Large Double Arches.  I saw this design online somewhere (sorry can't remember where) and thought it would look fantastic with the new punches. For this card I've used white CS and we used a couple of different sections from the English Rose Charlotte DP.  We also used different DP's for the background. This particular one is Frieda. The new Kaisercraft blossoms match so well with the design papers and add dimension to the card. I also added some small paper flowers from Green Tara and some punched leaves.

Week 10 - Card 1 - Black & White Nostalgia

This card was designed by Jenelle and designed to show the ladies in class something they had not done before. It's always fun to learn new techniques and we try to offer a wide range of different card making techniques. This one had two new techniques in it for many of the ladies. Firstly we used and embossing folder from Provo Craft and a template that Jenelle had made from chipboard. It enabled us to emboss the card front while leaving the middle section blank (unebossed). We then used Labels 13 from Spellbinders to create a frame. Next was the stamping and embossing...something many of the girls had never tried before. The stamp used was from Inkadinkadoo and its called Nostalgia. We simply stamped it with pigment ink and embossed it with super fine black embossing powder from Stamp It. The flourish is from Quickutz and the flowers were edged with a black Copic marker.

Week 9

Card 1 - Embossed Embroidery It has been quite some time since we did any embroidery cards in class so I thought it was about time to change that. In fact it had been quite a while since a lot of us had done any embroidery and it was quite a challenge...we were all a bit rusty I think.  The 3D is from Card Deco and comes in a variety of colours on the sheet. The embroidery was quite detailed and time consuming but a beautiful design. Underneath the 3D of flowers is an embossed section. This was done using a Marianne Designs  open passe-partout template and the Cuttlebug. I finished it off with a single bow and a tag using a Starform sticker for the greeting. Card 2 - Brick Wall by Jenelle Jenelled designed this card for class and it's another beauty. The card is all Bazzill Basics in Brown and French Vanilla. The image was stamped, cut and inked and then pieced together to form the brick wall design. String was wrapped around the top layer and tied with a small ta...
