September Competition

Something Old I was having a good clean out in my craft room the other day and I found some things I’ve had for years and some I’ve never even used. It gave me an idea for this months competition. So this month the competition is not an old card as in "vintage" but a chance for you to use something old. Let's face it we all have something in our craft room that we have had for years. Something you bought and have never used or you haven't used it in years. So bring it out and use it to make a card or project for the competition. If you have only been making cards for a short while, just grab something that you have had for a while and not used yet. Whatever you decide to use, you can combine it with something new to make your card or project if you wish. You can use a new die to accentuate it, or some new flowers or embellishments but you must use something old and I'd like it to be known which is the old thing you haven't used for a while. I'd also l...

August Competition Winner

Hi everyone, Well  we didn’t get as many cards this time but we still got some beauties and judging was still just as hard. I checked the votes after class on Friday and just about every number I picked out of the barrel was a different one, so nearly all of the cards had a vote. By the end of Saturday there were 3 cards on equal votes, but Wednesday night’s class was the deciding factor. One card received 3 votes on Wednesday night and it was the clear winner (by one vote) and that was Card 8 by Rhonda Congratulations Rhonda. Your gift voucher is waiting in store for you. Here is Rhonda’s winning card     And here are the other cards   Card 1 – Jaylee   Card 2 - Maralene Card 3 – Maralene   Card 4 – Olive   Card 5 – Pat   Card 6 – Pat   Card 7 – Rhonda   Card 9 – Rhonda   Card 10- Rhonda Thanks again everyone for your wonderful entries. Birthday Card

I thought I would just show you a birthday card that I made for one of my students this week. It's her birthday on Monday, but I gave her the card on Saturday, so don't worry I'm not spoiling the  surprise . Unfortunately the photos I took weren't the best, so they don't do it real justice. It turned out to be such a pretty card though and so easy to make too.  I embossed some smooth white cardstock with the Sizzix Thank You Set #5 embossing folder, and layered it onto a soft pink Bazzill cardstock. This was then layered onto a smooth white cardstock base. The stamp is from JustRite Stampers Large Fancy Sentiments. I just looove this stamp set!  The flowers were made using Spellbinders Blossom One and Bitty Blossoms . I used a technique that I picked up from Selma Stevenson's blog here . I just loooove these flowers and I've made them a few times now. I used white linen paper to make these. They are inked with Spun Sugar Distress Ink, spritzed and...
