In the last edition of Australian Simply Cards I had a coffee break feature. In this feature was this simple stamped card. It has been a very popular card, I guess partly for it's simplicity and partly for it's versatility. I really can be used for any gender and any age group just by swapping some colours.  Here is how I made this card - for those who may have missed the magazine. Instructions 1.         Cut an A4 sheet of white cardstock in half at 14.8cm x 21cm .   2.       Score and fold in half at 10.5cm. 3.       Cut another piece of white smooth cardstock to 14.3cm x 10cm . 4.       Stamp the sentiment with the Versafine ink in the bottom right corner. 5.       Stamp the various paint spills and drips with the coloured inks, to your liking. 6.       Die cut the Sketchy Rings fro...

Ever found that it’s really hard to find a gift for a guy? I always find it hard, so when I came up with this idea I was wrapped. It’s a gift card holder and with the papers that I used to design this one it is perfect (I think) for a man. Just get him a gift card for his favourite shop and pop it inside – perfect! The papers that I used are from Kaisercraft and they are Christmas designs, although you can use these ones all year round. I kept the design fairly simple with just a knotted black ribbon and Spellbinders Labels 28 on the front. I have blended the Labels with some Distress Ink and stamped with one of my favourite sentiments from JustRite Stampers. Inside is decorated with the same papers and there’s a pocket for the gift card. I had this card in my head for a long time before it actually hit my desk. I thought the birds 3D design would be perfect for the bird cage and also matched the papers really well. The papers are from Graphic 45’s A Ladies Diary collection. Another quick and easy gift idea for Christmas or a birthday in the New Year – a desk calendar. Made from one sheet of A4 cardstock, some Bazzill Basics cardstock and some scrapbooking paper, with just a few embellishments to decorate. The A4 cardstock has just a few folds in it to create the desktop calendar. Cut some cardstock and paper to glue/tape to the front. I used the corners from the Spellbinders Antique Frames and Accents die set behind the calendar. The flourishes are from Marianne Creatables Anja’s Flowers. I made one of these boxes for Christmas and it was very popular, so after Christmas we made one in class. I changed the sentiment to Happy Birthday and I changed the flourishes as the others weren’t suitable. On the original box I used the Marianne Creatables Holly Flourish, this one uses another Marianne Creatables Flourish from the LR0116 Frame Die Set. It makes a great gift for someone when you just want to give them something small. I made the measurements specific to the Ferrero Rocher 3pk of chocolates, but you could adjust it to fit other size packs. Thanks for looking. Triple Heart Easel Card   For our first week of classes for 2013 I chose a theme of New Year, New Beginnings. We made a Happy New Year card and a wedding card.       The wedding card was a triple easel card, made with Spellbinders Classic Hearts and Scalloped Hearts. The paper I used is by  Melissa Frances called Blessings.   I used Marianne Creatables LR0226 for the leaves and LR0242 for the flower on the largest heart. I have used Nellie Snellen punches for the other flowers, Spellbinders Ribbon Banner dies and Justrite Stampers 'Ever After Antique Labels One' for the sentiment.     The wedding rings were cut out of silver mirror board and the ink I used was Tattered Rose Distress Ink.         The Happy New Year card is something different for me. For something just that little bit different we made this triangle box card and it was a bit of a challenge. Once you have the gist of how it works though it's quite easy.  Made with Kaisercraft's "Choir" paper but it could be made in any designer paper and for any occasion. The sleigh is from Marianne Creatables and is LR0178. As you can see the strip across the middle slides off to allow you to open the box. Inside you can put money, or a gift card or something small like a hanky for Grandma. A cute novel way to give someone something small. To decorate the centrepiece I've used Labels 4 from Spellbinders and the sleigh. Roses from Green Tara and some seam binding for the bow. Jenelle designed this card which was a favourite amongst many of our ladies. There was a LOT of embossing and die cutting in it, but well worth the effort. The white layer was embossed with Cuttlebug folders D'vine Swirl and Roses.  We used Nellie Snellen's Multiframe die MFD005 and Spellbinders standard circles for the centrepiece and Marianne Creatables Butterfly LR0113 layered onto that. The punched border is Martha Stewart Layered Arches and Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder. For the flowers we used Joy Crafts 0024 & 0025 and a Carl Fern Punch for the leaves. Finally the tag is Marianne Creatables LR0154. We've made this card in several colours now and they all look great. It's so versatile.

One of the first cards we made for Christmas last year was this one. I saw the Yvonne's Creations 3D sheet (HJ6801) with the cute little reindeer on it and just couldn't resist it. I've layered Bazzill Basics cardstock with papers from Kaisercraft's "Tis the Season" collection. The dies uses in the centre are Spellbinders Lacey Circles, Standard Circles Lg and Blossom Two. The roses and blossom are from Green Tara and I've curled the stems on the roses. The sentiment is also from Kaisercraft. The inks I've used on this card are Vintage Photo Distress Ink and Versafine Vintage Sepia.

I have two cards to show you this time. This first one is a cute little card using Parisian Motifs & Parisian Accents dies from Spellbinders. These were fairly new dies when we made this card in class. I have also used Spellbinders Ribbon Banners die for the sentiment with a Kaisercraft stamp. The image in the centre is from Yvonne's Creations 3D Sheet CD10155 and the designer paper is from Girl's Paperie. It is the reverse side of "Cottage Vine". The second card I have to show you is a gorgeous design from Jenelle. It's a side step card and uses the beautiful papers from Kaisercraft called "Chapter One". The colours and designs in this range are so nice! This is the side view of the card. The flowers were made again using the Chapter One paper and the Marianne Creatables Rolled Rose die LR0162 - available for $17.50. I do like these rolled roses! They are so easy to make and look great.

Marianne Designables DS0911 was used to make this card. I just love the Designables folders, they are so pretty and lend themselves to so many applications. The photo doesn't really do this card much justice as you can't see the gorgeous embossing very well. The cardstock is Bazzill Dotted Swiss and just a smooth white cardstock. The stamp is from JustRite Stampers and it's from the "You're So Sweet" set, which I still have available for a limited time.

This would have to be one of my favourite cards that we made last year. I designed this using the Bo Bunny "Timepiece" collection and it has been incredibly popular with my customers. It such a simple card to make too.    Some gold ball chain added to the fob watch really sets it off. All the papers or the kit to make this card are available through my store. Here are some more cards that we made back in June last year. This one is made using the Bo Bunny "Timepiece" collection. I just loooove these papers! A simple layered card with an organza bow and Le Suh 3D. This embroidered card was designed by my Mum, Patricia. As soon as the girls in class saw it there was lots of  "oohs and aahs" and I was asked if we could make it in class. It really is a beautiful card and the 3D came in a few different colours so there were some nice colour combinations. A week later we did this version of the card. Again in a variety of different colours. June was the anniversary of Evelyn Wilkinson's passing. I had the privilege of working with Evelyn and knew her for about 8 years. She was a huge influence on me and a great mentor. She was the one who told me that I could teach classes.
